Parents

Parents Teacher Association

Parents, teachers and admin staff working together to give our children more than the school can provide alone.

What we do

Extra equipment and facilities

The PTA is set up by parents who wish to give the children equipment and facilities over and above what the school is able to provide. Over the years this has included:

  • Sports equipment
  • Library books
  • Educational games
  • Cricket nets
  • Netball court improvements
  • Classroom contributions

The PTA has no direct involvement in the planning for the school, but contributes to projects.

Fundraising

Three traditional fundraisers

  1. Term 1

    Bunny Raffle

  2. Term 2

    Themed Fun Day

  3. Term 3

    Fun Run / Bug Run

Teachers, admin staff and PTA members put a great deal of planning and work into these events, and are repaid by the children's enthusiasm and the significant amounts raised. The Fun Day has a different theme every year and is one of the happiest events on the Summerhill calendar, a reflection of the strong sense of community and family in the school.

Who is the PTA?

The PTA is made up of an executive committee, teachers and parents. At the Annual General Meeting (AGM), the PTA elects a new committee and celebrates the hard work and achievements of the year.

Every parent is welcome to volunteer. Being a PTA member means contributing your time and energy, but above all it means having fun and making your children proud of your involvement in their school.
